Scenographic Hotel
The project is set on Chester Rd, Cincinnati, Ohio. Because the site is located directly next to Highway 75 and surrounded by conventional low-rise commercial buildings, The focus of the design is to create a space that captivates the scenery within the architecture itself. The programs are arranged in the order of public spaces circling the private spaces. All the public service spaces are located at the outer ring, and hotel rooms are in the center, away from public activities. Such arrangements will present a clear circulation to hotel guests and guests only to enjoy the other public facilities. In addition, the ring structural organization also functions as a defense mechanism against potential noise disturbance caused by the busy highway.
Orthogonal geometries are placed asymmetrically to create opportunities for rooftop terraces. The move of elevating the height of different units provides additional social pores and dynamic visual interaction for hotel guests to enjoy the beauty of the hotel design.
The hotel rooms are designed in villa style. With this design, it allows guests to have their private spaces while enjoying the hotel’s environment. The exterior staircases were built, connecting the villa’s ground floor to the rooftop. It expands the possibility for guests with the additional spaces on the rooftop, as it enables guests to use the areas for various activities to move around, having a broader perspective of the hotel that is generally difficult to perceive on the ground floor.
As for the interior of the hotel room, it contains two floors inside. The bedroom is on the second floor with a skylight in selected units, and other living spaces are on the first floor.
